Membership

Our Society is one of the largest Referees’ Societies in Hampshire, averaging around 120 members each season, with both male and female members, spanning a wide range of ages and officiating matches at all levels of the footballing spectrum. We are an inclusive group and will always make you feel welcome at our meetings and events. This season sees the introduction of some key changes to the Society. If you joined the Portsmouth RS what could you expect to receive?

  • Monthly meetings (Third Thursday in August and every second Thursday for all other months up to and including May). Youth section meetings start in September
  • In-service training through discussion at meetings and organised training evenings. We are placing a lot more emphasis on developing referees this season with training evenings, extended problem corners and open forums so we can discuss issues that arise throughout the season
  • Fitness training
  • Social events - Christmas party, Football tournaments, Golf days, Paintballing, Quizzes, Cricket matches, Tenpin bowling, Go-karting, Race nights, Skittles evenings - all run by members for members
  • Insurance which covers you whilst travelling to and from matches, whilst refereeing, whilst on recognised Society business (such as meetings or organised events) and also the theft of equipment up to the value of £200
  • Kit - The chance to buy quality kit and supplies at a discounted rate
  • Benevolent Fund - Access to the Benevolent Fund if ever the need arose
  • Support and guidance from experience referees
  • RA-FA Incentive Scheme Membership where referee related items can be obtained in exchange for points gained from refereeing activities
  • PhysioCare Cover - Optional physiotherapy cover for injuries sustained when refereeing/training. Further information can be found here
