Fitness Referee Training Update - July 3rd

This week's fitness session was attended by six people which included Phil Wilson for the third time this summer and Dean Treleaven who had already attended a mock Football League fitness test that same morning with Andy Laver.

Two laps around the pitch as usual followed by some higher intensity shuttles than normal which warmed everyone up. This was followed by a mid-intensity interval run with a recovery walk and another mid-intensity exercise accumulating 24 sprints in 12 minutes.

The football match this week was contested between Brown Wanderers and Misselbrook City. Whilst the game started tightly contested with Mike Misselbrook showing his team the way forward with Dean following suit, Ken's team responded with a well worked goal between Craig Robson and Mike Desborough to make the score 2-1.

However, from that moment on Brown Wanderers seemed to lose their way with Robson and Desborough badly letting their captain down. Misselbrook and Treleaven ruthlessly punished sloppy play from the fore-mentioned players and gave Misselbrook City a 4-1 lead. When Ken's side did threaten with Robson's attempted lob, keeper Phil Wilson responded with a Suarez-style handball to save his team from an inevitable goal. Misselbrook completed his hat-trick and Robson grabbed a consolation goal for Wanderers. There was even time for Wilson to get in the act and for Dean to put one just wide.

Misselbrook City recorded an emphatic 6-2 victory with Desborough commenting "I don't know what happened out there today, but I promise to make it up to Ken if he picks me again." It remains to be seen whether Ken will pick either Desborough or Robson again...
