Referee Mentor Workshop
In Portsmouth and all over Hampshire we are trying to support Referees who are starting out on their Refereeing career.
To do this we need Mentors and a Mentor Workshop has been arranged as follows:
Date: Monday 13th February 2012 Venue: Saltern Suite, The Farmhouse & Innlodge, Burrfields Road, Portsmouth PO3 5HH Time: 7.00pm for 7.15pm Start Dress Code: Smart Casual
If you are free on a Saturday Morning / Sunday Morning and are able to give up 1 morning a month or even just once or twice a season then your help would be appreciated.
All Referees can be Mentors, all levels and even if this is your first full season you can support the new Referees.

Lou Stephenson receives FA Referees Long Service Award
Lou Stephenson has recently retired as a FA Tutor, having served the Hampshire FA and Portsmouth Referees Society in this role for over 31 years. At the January meeting of the Portsmouth Referees Society, Nick Taplin presented Lou with an FA Referees Long Service Award to mark his service to Referee Instruction.
In his time referee coaching, Lou, a former Southern League Match Official, has trained over 1000 new referees in the Portsmouth area, and been active in many in service events, including the "Portsmouth Roadshow" who were famous in the 1980's and early1990's, presenting training evenings across Hampshire and the South of England.
Lou commented that he had enjoyed every minute of his time coaching and it gave him great pride when he watched referees he had taught progress up the refereeing ladder.

Social Events - Skittles Night 2012 - Southampton vs. Portsmouth
Our annual Skittles Night is first approaching! This is an event played every year against our friendly rivals Southampton RA. It is a fun night and a chance to catch up with some of our neighbours whilst defending our title! The battle will commence at Banister Park Bowling Club on Friday 27th January 2011 at a of cost only £12!

RA-FA Event - Monday 5th March 2012
We have been notified by Hampshire FA that the Key Note Speaker for our RA-FA Event will be Andre Marriner, a FIFA & Premier League Referee.
Date of Event - Monday 5th March 2012 Venue - Thornden Hall, Thornden Scholl, Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh, Southampton Timings - 7.15pm for 7.30pm
Full details of the event will be published in the New Year.
Assistance will be required prior to and on the evening of the event and a small working party is being put together, led by the Senior Tutors. Any volunteers to be part of the working party or for assisting on the night should contact to brian.lebreton@hampshirefa.com without delay.

Society Meeting - November 2011
This month our guest speaker will be Dean Mohareb. Dean is a National List Referee and is also a National Referee Manager for Workforce with The FA. – This is a guest speaker not to be missed!
The Portsmouth Referees Society’s November 2011 meeting will take place tonight and for the first time will be held at the Farmhouse Innlodge located in Burrfields Road, Portsmouth, PO3 5HH, starting at 7:30pm (youth section meeting starting at 7pm.)
Membership Now Due
The renewal of your RA membership for 2011-2012 is now due. You can find our membership form located on our Forms page and further info about membership if required on our Membership page.
A reminder that from this season the RA is also offering optional physiotherapy cover to full members who sustain injuries whilst refereeing/training at a small additional fee.
